Description
Barnardo's is committed to providing 'Better Outcomes for More Children'.

Our children's services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services in local communities, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families.

This role provides a great opportunity to join our fantastic children's services and help make a real difference.

Group Activity Helper volunteers work alongside staff to provide adult groups, which focus on a common issue/need, such as parents with a child who has ADHD or a disability.

Group Helpers support adult only groups out in community settings and have no contact with children.

Atebion is a Families First funded programme offering support to children, young people and their families whilst they are going through a diagnosis assessment process, or after they have been diagnosed.

The support provided is early intervention support for the whole family, aimed at increasing confidence, selfesteem and resilience so that families feel equipped to manage and overcome challenges that arise throughout their life.

One element of the support provided by Atebion is group intervention for the children, young people and their siblings.

The aim of the group sessions are to explore a particular issue and suitable coping strategies for the children to use, for example it could be linked to emotional regulation, building independence skills or transition to comprehensive school.

Barnardo's has been awarded 12 months of funding via the WCVA grant to deliver the 'Ti'n Werth Y Byd' service, which directly translates to 'You're Worth the World'. The aim of the project is to recruit and support individuals with lived experience of neurodiversity into volunteering opportunities, to develop skills and gain qualifications through the Agored Centre.

These volunteers will include children, young people and adults and clear opportunities will be created within our Atebion service to 'give something back', remain connected with the service and provide an exit plan through befriending support.

We are looking for volunteers with a fun and approachable attitude, and an ability to engage adults in worthwhile and enjoyable activities, which increase their confidence and coping mechanisms.

Barnardo's protects, supports and nurtures the UK's most vulnerable children.

Barnardo's helps bring out the best in children - no matter who they are or what they have been through.

Our volunteers help make this happen.- Tasks: Working alongside staff, to support group activities with adults only around a common need/issue.
