Information about the Role:

As a Support Worker at Briarvale the main function of your role will be to provide exceptional care to service users, under the direction of the Registered Manager, in accordance with best practice, and in line with policy, procedures and legislation.

Working as a Support Worker at Briarvale your duties will include the following:

Providing physical support which may include helping with household tasks and personal care.
Providing emotional support for an individual and at times their families.
Maintain the hygiene, dignity, health and safety of service users at all times.
Ensure that service users' rights are protected.
Encouraging and supporting the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests.
Observe service users ensuring a safe environment, protecting them from harm.
Teaching life skills, such as shopping, using public transport and paying for bills.
Working with other healthcare professionals to ensure that all care needs meet the highest possible standards.
Assist in the design and administration of an evaluation of the care standards and care service provision.
Maintain an awareness of Health and Safety requirements.

Information about the Service:

Briarvale is a supported living service for individuals with a learning disability or mental health diagnosis. We support people to live as independently as possible and our aim is to learn new life skills to enable them to move on to living in the community in their own home. To achieve these outcomes, we work with the individual (and their family, friends, and wider supporter networks) to create strengths-based support plans. As we are all unique, there is no one model of support. Instead, we offer flexible staff teams and structures, able to react and adjust to changing needs and ambitions. This ensures support is individual focused, rather than organisation focused.

At the supported Living service, Briarvale, we have 10 bedrooms with a mix of en-suite and shared bathrooms. There is a large communal kitchen, dining room and living room. There is also a second kitchen where we support individuals to learn daily living skills. This adaptability ensures support is built around the individual, and that every ambition (from wanting to make their own cup of coffee through to finding a job) receives the focus, time and ongoing motivation required to help them be achieved and celebrated

Necessary Experience or Qualifications to work as a Support worker:

No experience needed for this role as full training will be provided.
However previous experience working as a Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant, Domiciliary Carer or Senior preferred.
Caring, kind and considerate.
Passionate about making a difference in someone else's life.
Good communication skills.
Able handle sometimes challenging situations.
Able to build relationships with many different people and work flexibly.
Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (desirable).
