Job Title:
Researcher - Public Protection


Salary:
£28,511 to £30,504 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £28,511 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £30,504 will be via incremental progression.


Location:
Across London - North West BCU

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of the Safeguarding hub.

You'll use police databases to look for information and intelligence on vulnerable people and high-risk offenders.

You'll review police reports on each person, their family and associates and summarise the information in intelligence reports to be shared with partner agencies.

This will help us decide which agencies need to act and how best to safeguard the public and vulnerable people.


Every day you'll be making sure we are there to safeguard the public and in particular those that are particularly vulnerable and need us the most.

Your work has the potential to identify and safeguard children and vulnerable adults. It is therefore vital that you can analyse information and identify the key points. You'll also need good written and typing skills, plus knowledge of Word and Excel. Above all you'll need the confidence to raise concerns and meet deadlines under pressure. Key Responsibilities:

To be an integral part of the BCU Safeguarding Hub including Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), CAIT referrals, CSE (Child Sexual Exploitation), CCE (Child Criminal Exploitation), Missing persons


You will:

  • Undertake research using MPS intelligence systems including IIP, PND, Merlin, CRIS, PNC, CRIMINT Plus, and open sources
  • Complete initial research relating to all forms of safeguarding
  • Support the work of Police colleagues as required within the Safeguarding hub environment
  • Comply with MPS, ACPO and MOPI standards
  • All administrative duties pertaining to the role and systems in place

  • Competent with the use of PNC, IIP, CRIS and MERLIN
