Senior Research Analyst - Sustainability


The Team:

The Climate Researcher is part of the Sustainability Research team, within the Emerging Risks Research and Development team at S&P Global Ratings.

Through our Sustainability Research, we explore emerging and current trends to provide the market with insights that help make informed decisions.


What's in it for you:

As part of the Sustainability Research team, you will work with and support senior researchers in their work on climate-related topics.

You will contribute to the delivery of impactful research and collaborate with the analytical teams as well as with the larger Emerging Risks Research and Development team, which has a wide range of skills and expertise.


Responsibilities:


  • Enhance/develop research and analytical approaches on climate transition risks and physical climate risks, primarily for Shades of Green and Credit Ratings, but also other products.
  • Contribute to excellent customer (internal and external) service and a positive working environment.

Success will be measured by:


  • Quality of research contributed to, producing independent and cuttingedge findings
  • Quality of writing when reporting on research findings
  • Efficiency in research project management
  • Effectiveness of collaboration with team members and across practices
  • Compliance with relevant policies and procedures

What We're Looking For:

Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including the development of new datasets and insights.
Comprehensive knowledge of climate-related topics, including associated regulations, reporting standards, green taxonomies and transition and adaptation planning

Good understanding of existing frameworks (TCFD, TFND etc.), methodologies, models (such as IAMs), scenarios (NGFS, IEA, IPCC RCPs and SSPs etc.)

, and data (including those related to GHG emissions and physical risks)
Understanding of pollution, waste, or nature-related topics, including regulations, methodologies, and approaches.
Curious, methodical, organized, and efficient in managing projects and tasks.
Strong communications skills with both internal and external audiences.
Flexible and adaptable in a rapidly moving and growing environment.
At least 5 years of relevant experience.
Science-based qualification as well as finance/economics, would be highly valued.
Understanding of climate-related risks and impacts on macroeconomic variables would be preferred.
Proficiency in coding in various languages (Python, R etc.) would be an advantage.
Experience in leading projects would be a plus.

Experience at a ESG rating agency, asset management / financial services company, development bank, audit/consultancy firm, sustainable finance organization, or equivalent.
