The Role
The role oversees the day-to-day running of a Revenue Team in London.

Reporting to the EMEA Working Capital Managers, they supervise the Revenue Controllers while delivering a best in class Revenue Service to the London Office.

Collaboration with Finance and other Business Services Teams throughout the London and Newcastle offices is integral to the role.


This role requires a self-starter with significant experience in legal revenue management and billing together with a clear and demonstrable understanding of the end to end revenue stream and its impact on profitability.


Specific responsibilities include:


  • Direct supervision of the revenue management process for designated practice areas in London
  • Managing Revenue Controllers to organise and hold WIP meetings with Partners, to encourage timely and effective billing
  • Responsible for monthly billing pledges and review of uploads to HighQ
  • Motivate the team to successfully deliver against billing targets and other KPIs set by management
  • Development of the team through ongoing training, support and knowledge sharing, conducting the annual performance review and manage performance issues
  • Monitor and drive improvement of lock up days for London Partners
  • Setup Partner meetings to discuss billing and lock up where standards fall short of Finance Committee targets
  • Regular contact with the Finance Operations team engaged in the preparation of invoices for
designated practice areas

  • Maintain regular conference calls with Finance Operations team to promote and ensure quality, accuracy and compliance of the billing output
  • Working with Rate teams to ensure rate structures, alternative pricing/billing arrangements are applied
  • Ensure adherence to the SRA Accounts Rules and UK and EC VAT Regulations
  • Investigating billing related queries and residual client account balances
  • Work closely with the EMEA Working Capital Managers and ensure appropriate escalation of revenue/billing issues take place
  • Undertaking other duties to support the EMEA Working Capital Managers with training, recruitment, procedural improvement, reporting, innovation and related projects
  • A sound working knowledge of Ebilling and Credit Management process
  • Oversee Revenue Team inbox
  • Point of contact for office WIP auditing enquiries
  • Systems improvements maintenance and development of current systems
  • Occasional travel to Newcastle office required

Skills and Experience

  • A team player
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the confidence and gravitas to liaise at all levels within the business
  • Previous supervisory experience ideally in a revenue management/billing environment
  • Sound working knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules and VAT Regulations
  • Selfmotivated and dedicated
  • Strong revenue management and legal billing experience gained in a major city based law firm
  • Significant technical billing experience using a recognised legal practice management system
  • Must be highly client centric
  • Demonstrable knowledge of ebilling in a legal environment. Experience of working with LEDES file formats is desirable
  • Flexible approach to working hours and a willingness to work outside core hours during busy periods.
