The Employee Services Department consists of Payroll, Pension and Staff Benefits, our service is so important to our workforce and supports our colleagues to deliver patient care the best it can be, so we want someone fab to join our very busy team to help ensure we process salary payments accurately and on time.

Using our computerised systems, you'll manage and process a range of pay affecting data which we will support you with to enable you to prioritise your work

You'll be proactive to ensure our service is the best it can be.

We do everything as a team, so you will help with the development and implementation of new initiatives within the service and the wider Trust and ensure that all employee services processes are carried out in accordance with current legislation and best practice.

You will support the Payroll Account Manager and the team to deliver an effective and comprehensive Employee Service in accordance with agreed professional standards, procedures and timescales.


Support the implementation of good practice in human resources management consistently across the organisation through effective liaison with Directorate staff, and accurate and timely exchange of information.


  • Ensure changes are made against employees records in line with ESR guidelines and best practice. Ensuring that the data held on the system is accurately held to enable the ease of reporting and extraction when requested throughout the Trust.
  • Identify discrepancies, unusual features or queries at any point in the process and either resolve or refer to the appropriate officer for action.
  • Set up new employees onto ESR, correctly setting up all system details for payments, deductions, bank account, tax code, National Insurance and pension details.
  • Ensure that employees who leave the Trust leaver details are input in a correct and timely manner in ESR to ensure the final payments are paid accurately and on time and P45 is issued.
  • Sort and prioritise work on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Provide clerical support to the department to include efiling and scanning of documents.
  • Provide cover for the workload of payroll during the absence of colleagues as required.
  • The post holder will be required to undertake a recognised Payroll qualification.
  • The Trust will provide assistance and agreed development to enable the post holder to achieve their objectives and standards in line with the development plan.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with other members of the department, other employees within the Trust and external organisations to deliver a professional service focused on achieving a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Department, the Workforce Directorate, the Trust and Client organisations.
