Job Description:


We have a new opportunity for an Associate Research Scientist, in the peptide purification chemistry team who will join a dynamic and fast-moving team and will be involved in the purification of peptides and Bicyclic peptides (Bicycles).

Working as part of the Discovery team you will be responsible for advancing early stage drug discovery projects from concept to molecule and for delivering peptides and reagents to the Discovery teams to help drive Structure Activity Relationship studies.

The role will involve close interaction with the Biology, Chemistry, DMPK and informatics teams to organise and schedule laboratory and project activities and to review data and progress.

Additional interactions will be with our US team and external collaborators in our partnership deals as appropriate.

You should be self-motivated, well organised, diligent in record keeping, have a good working knowledge of the drug discovery process and be able to perform consistently at the highest level.


Key responsibilities:


  • Purification of peptides and bicyclic Bicycles by HPLC
  • Use of a variety of analytical techniques (such as LC-MS, MALDI-TOF) to characterize Bicycles
  • Entry of peptides into databases and repositories, ensuring accurate record keeping and adhering to standard operating procedures
  • A range of standard lab procedures to support wet chemistry
  • Clear and accurate record keeping
Qualifications*Essential:
  • Graduate in Chemistry or related Chemical Science
  • Specific experience in the purification and analysis of peptides using reversephase HPLC.
  • Continuous development of more robust problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective interaction with other teams
  • Consistent team player with good communication skills
  • Good organisational skills and close attention to detail
  • Confident with requirements of data integrity and use of Electronic Lab Notebooks
  • Good time management skills and ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Innovative, entrepreneurial, enjoys working in a fastpaced environment

Desirable:


  • Experience in the maintenance and upkeep of HPLC and LCMS systems
  • Experience in the use, maintenance and upkeep of Mass spectroscopy systems
  • Experience characterising peptides, proteins or large novel compounds using MS/MS spectroscopy
