Description
As a Barclays Operational Risk Payment Senior Manager you will ensure the First Line of defense effectively and optimally manages risk and the risk - reward dynamic.
You will provide oversight and independent robust challenge to risk decision making andthe use of the Operational Risk Framework and tools in the First and Second Lines of Defense.
You will act as a partner and consultant to effectively influence business behaviors and risk culture, supporting a risk environment, highlighting issues and supportingprevention and remediation.

Working Flexibly
What will you be doing?:
- Challenging and assisting the First Line business teams using influencing and negotiating skills to identify, assess and control emerging risks prior to P&L impact
- Enabling the First and Second line to manage Operational Risk effectively through provision of advice, tools, training and robust independent challenge
- Driving business unit leaders and members of the Control team to make risk informed key business and strategy decisions through their understanding of the business
- Providing risk consultation to First Line management and the Control team through the risk frameworks, Issue and Error review and process enhancement and remediation
- Reviewing and challenging the design and effectiveness of controls to manage operational risks within appetite and seeking appropriate validation to assist with the outcomes
- You will champion the use of a practical toolset to manage Operational Risk activity (ORAC) and oversee the deployment of tools through the Risk team
What we're looking for:
- Process optimization, process mapping experience
- Good knowledge of financial services and operations, with emphasis on procedures and controls to address risk
- Good written and oral communication skills and an ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels
- The ability to negotiate with partners and peers to achieve results that helps the Enterprise Risk Framework

Where will you be working?
Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we've been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997.
We purchased the building from the landlord in early 2018 as a sign of our commitment to investment in Northampton.
