What you'll be doing:
  • Overall responsibility for the provision of the Business strategy in relation to physical Asset Management
  • Accountable for ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements of the business physical infrastructure
  • Accountable for delivering services across the full Asset Life Cycle (ISO9000) for the Submarines Business, from commissioning to decommissioning stages, ensuring maintenance of nuclear accreditation
  • Ensuring the Submarines Business recruits develops and maintains suitable levels of experienced and qualified personnel across the full asset management cycle
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of new and emerging soft and hard FM processes, systems, methods, and capabilities to ensure safer and compliant operations of the shipyard
  • Understanding the needs of the business, functions and projects, to ensure continuous service improvement
  • Leading, setting strategy around asset management and driving the resulting business change processes
  • Responsibility for building effective business relationships between key stakeholders whilst facilitating delivery of the business strategy, initiatives and support
  • You'll also have people manager responsibilities in this role with developing and managing a team

Your skills and experiences:


  • Substantial experience operating in Asset Management roles with significant experience operating in a large organisation
  • Strong background in maintaining industrial / plant facilities (nuclear experience is desirable but not a prerequisite)
  • Ability to develop workforce strategy and experienced working with outsourced services
  • Proven experience in managing complex programme delivery for large/multiple budgets (c. £50 £100m)
  • Delivering significant business change and support with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience managing complex and diverse teams
  • Engineering degree or business degree or equivalent experience in industrial leadership position or consultancy in the asset management space
  • Relevant vocational qualification or equivalent experience

The team:For a professional in asset management eager to advance, this is a fantastic opportunity. Reporting directly to the Director of Site and Facilities, you will be the senior asset management professional in the business and, as such, have a lot of autonomy and be able to personalise this position. In addition to safeguarding us and keeping us safe, BAE is concentrating on products of national value, creating jobs for hundreds of people, and advancing the Barrow region. We are expanding our UK shipyard significantly and are also supporting the construction of an entirely new shipbuilding facility which is being built with Australian partners.
