About the role:


The All-Ireland Concern Debates and Schools program supports learning on global development issues by ensuring that students, their teachers, and all other stakeholders develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence to become lifelong advocates for equality, justice, and solidarity.

The Concern Debates and Schools program involves both primary and post-primary levels in NI.

Along with colleagues on the Concern Debates and Schools Team in ROI, you will be responsible for:

Recruiting and coordinating NI schools at primary and post-primary levels in each of the three rounds of the Concern Debates online League Phase
Building a strong, professional relationship with teachers, ensuring that they have all of the information and training required to serve as Concern Debate mentors
Recruiting and training volunteer adjudicators, including ensuring NI-based adjudicators complete Access NI checks

Managing the relationship with volunteer adjudicators, ensuring that they have all of the information and training required for their role.

Working with the Concern Debates Team in ROI to coordinate in-person debate events
Creating and delivering bespoke training for teachers, students, and adjudicators taking part in the Concern Debates program both online and in person
Assisting in the development and creation of materials, webinars, podcasts, and resources for the Concern Debates and Schools program that promote critical thinking, analysis, and presentation skills as well as support learning on global development issues particularly relevant to the work of Concern
Ensuring all program participants are aware of and comply with Concern's Child Safeguarding policy as well as relevant Data Protection policies and all other relevant codes of conduct
Keeping accurate records of all aspects of the school's program including financial monitoring and evaluation records
Contributing to the organization of the Concern Debates National Final at the Helix Theatre
Support the planning and delivery of Concern Supporter events in NI and support Concern engagement in local networks (e.g. CADA)


Essential:

Project managing and mentoring skills
Demonstrable innovative problem-solving skills
Experience posting on social media and creating strong social media content
Excellent communication and report writing skills (written and verbal)
Demonstrate the ability to deliver talks and/or training to small groups
Ability to respond flexibly to changing priorities and to work independently to own deadlines
Active commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and the interests of marginalized people
Experience working as an effective and productive member of a team
Available to work unsocial hours and travel to in-person events
Successfully complete Access NI vetting


Desirable:

Demonstrate the ability to produce materials and resources, e.g. training or education resources for schools/groups
Demonstrate the ability to deliver CPD training to teachers, as well as delivering talks and workshops to students
Knowledge of and/or experience working in the NI School System
Valid UK Driver's license
