Purpose of the role
As part of our Education, Training and Employment programme, we support hard-to-reach people in Oxfordshire facing challenges such as homelessness, offending histories, substance misuse or mental health difficulties.
We empower people to rebuild their lives and realise their potential, by providing person-centred employment, enterprise development, housing and support opportunities.
Some of our clients have disengaged from education at an early age and consequently may have very low levels of literacy.
Key tasks
Key tasks are intended to be a guide to the range and level of work expected of the job holder.
This is not an exhaustive list of all tasks and employees will be expected to carry out such other reasonable duties which may be required from time to time.
- To support a small group of adults to study English functional skills level 1 or 2 for 2 hours per week for 6 months.
- To support a maximum of 2 individual clients with more intensive support to study English functional skills levels 1 or 2 for one hour a week for 13 weeks at the start of this study programme.
- To support a further 2 individual clients for the latter half of this study programme to study English functional skills levels 1 or
- To support all clients to attend an exam when relevant.
- To complete all in house mandatory training.
- To compile 2 quarterly reports highlighting the steps taken by clients, achievements and ongoing matters.
Essential:
- Proven success in teaching English functional skills levels 1 and
- Evidence of supporting adult learners
- Relevant teaching qualifications and exceptional administrative and organisational abilities, consistently upholding a high level of service within the team.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with a wide range of colleagues
- Ability to prioritise and deliver on a changing workload, sometimes with short deadlines
- Public Liability Insurance to allow you to work as a subcontractor on a selfemployed basis.
Desirable:

£30.00 per hour
