Description

Key responsibilities are:

  • Effectively field media enquiries to the organisation, relating to a variety of issues pertaining to its public image.
  • Research, write, edit and issue press releases, case studies and feature articles with a particular focus on the organisation's research and enterprise activities.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the Media, PR and Communications strategy
  • Plan, develop and implement Media and PR plans for specific campaign and news releases.
  • Identify and organise media events, opportunities (i.e. broadcast and photo opportunities) and media interviews ensuring key messages are clearly communicated.
  • Provide media support for events including press conferences, exhibitions and press tours.
  • Work with researchers, other academic staff and members of the Marketing and Communications team to optimise the organisation's exposure in the local, national and international media to raise awareness and enhance reputation
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with media contacts.
  • Support the monitoring, evaluation and reporting on the effectiveness of Media, PR and Communications activities working with relevant suppliers.
  • Maintain and update information on the news section of the organisation's website.

Profile

  • Degree or equivalent level 6 qualification
  • Experience of developing and implementing communication plans, campaigns and projects
  • Experience of writing press releases and other forms of written communications for external audiences
  • Excellent written communications skills and the ability to write compelling copy for a full range of media
  • Good IT skills with ability to demonstrate effective use of IT as a communication tool for professional practice
  • Ability to build, sustain and manage a wide range of stakeholder relationships
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate with people in a variety of situations
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure
  • A high level of initiative and problemsolving skills
  • Creativity and the ability to come up with news angles and pitch news stories to journalists

Job Offer
- £30,000 - £33,000 salary, with potential to progress to £35,33- 25 days plus standard public holidays and additional four days during Christmas closures

  • Hybrid working: 2 days in the office
