Description

Lead the Programme Planning, Controls and Reporting Team to:

  • Understand what, when and how activities will be delivered to realise the programme's outcomes, with the resources available.
  • Own the ongoing development and management of the NHP's integrated plan and schedule.
  • Proactively manage risks and issues facing the programme and a range of other controls.
  • Ensure timely, consistent, and accurate data collection, analysis and reporting on programme progress and delivery confidence.
  • Lead the development of minimum standards for planning, controls and reporting and ensure compliance across the programmes, supporting teams where necessary.

General aspects of a Band 9 role:
The post holder will have accountability and responsibility for the strategic and operational development of the Directorate. Plans to achieve the strategy will be underpinned by the delivery of short to medium term objectives.

  • Ensure the strategy is formulated, understood by all stakeholders, and is delivered utilising all available resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure the development and management of relevant strategic plans, within the Programme.
  • Ensure appropriate system and processes are in place to enable the implementation of the strategy plans.
  • Proactively manage key risks and issues, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to mitigate or respond.
  • Monitor and establish accountability on the overall progress of the strategy to ensure completion within agreed timescales.
  • Manage the whole budgetary implications of activity.
  • Avoid the destabilisation of business as usual.
  • Manage and actively promote relationships with key stakeholders.


We are in the process of establishing long-term capability to deliver the New Hospital Programme - the 3rd largest programme on the Government's Major Projects Portfolio enabling the delivery of NHS's Health Infrastructure Plan.


The Programme is committed to changing the way hospitals are built and achieving significant savings through repeatable design, modern methods of construction, new approaches to clinical planning and the implementation of innovation in sustainability, digital technology, and new care methods.


The purpose of the Programme Office is to Integrate NHP, drive timely and consistent delivery of the Sponsor Team's requirements, and provide accurate and insightful information to support decision makers and build stakeholder confidence.


The Programme Office consists of three core functions: 1) Programme Governance, Assurance and Project Delivery Standards, 2) Programme Planning, Controls and Reporting and 3) NHP Operations.
