The Cancer Clinical Trials Unit (CCTU) at UCLH is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Trials Administrator, to support the smooth running of the department.


The post holder will primarily be required to assist the GI Research team by providing day to day administrative support for the co-ordination of patient sample and providing admin support to the clinical team ensuring continuity in safely enrolling and treating clinical trial patients within the GI cancers portfolio.


The main role of the administrator is to assist the GI Research Team with the administrative tasks involved in coordinating the GI oncology patient's tumour blocks and scans are submitted in a timely manner within the Cancer Clinical Trials Unit as well as providing day-to-day admin support for the teams.


  • To collect, package and send pathological tumour samples to sponsor labs in timely manner to meet trial recruitment for Oncology.
  • To provide administrative support to GI research team as required.
  • To upload anonymised patient scans to trial sponsors imaging portal

Cancer Services sits within the Surgery and Cancer Board. It incorporates comprehensive outpatient, day care, ambulatory care, and inpatient services for Oncology and Haematology.


The Cancer Clinical Trials Unit office is based in 250 Euston Rd and comprises of three main areas: Haematology, Oncology and Complex Pathways and it supports activity in the local Clinical Research Facility and the North Thames Local Comprehensive Research Network and Experimental Cancer Centre.

Each group is comprised of teams of research nurses, clinical trial practitioners and data managers and provides support to local Investigators wishing to conduct clinical trials and other high quality clinical research projects within UCLH.

Each team supports a portfolio of research and ensures that trials are conducted to the highest standards and in accordance with UK legislation and the R&D Governance Framework.

The aim of the Unit is to effectively use resources to ensure that patients have access to entry into clinical trials, as appropriate, and maintain the highest quality of care for patients.

Applicants should have experience working in an administrative role and/or in a healthcare setting, a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially word and excel,

and some experience of working in a health care setting.

You will also need exceptional organisational skills, a keen eye for detail and good verbal and written communication skills

We are currently supporting hybrid remote working, allowing a combination of working from home and office-based working.

Flexibility around on-site working is essential and you may be required to attend the office at relatively short notice to ensure that the service is covered.
