About The Role:

Our SHEQ team are looking for a skilled

Operations Supervisor to join their team, ensuring legal compliance and to help drive a safety culture. This role is the SHEQ representative for the business across the North East route supporting the operational teams and undertaking assurance activities to ensure operational effectiveness and safe working practices.


Key Responsibilities:

SHEQ duties:


  • Comply with all relevant legislation and railway rules
  • Undertake random site visits and protection checks
  • Attend worksites to carry out safety audits on behalf of the business and client
  • Support the management of the actual possession
  • Confirm blocking arrangements and provide guidance to staff as required
  • Mentor new and less experienced staff and provide guidance to locations as required
  • Control and distribute spare equipment as required
  • Report any issues with staff performance or competence to the relevant Delivery Manager or oncall manager in a timely fashion
  • Carry out audits and submit reports on findings as required
  • Undertake investigations into safety related events and incidents as required
  • Carry out additional duties deemed to be within your capability as directed by management

Possession Support duties:


  • Attend / manage prepossession checks, briefings etc and be in place at blocking points at least one hour in advance
  • Man blocking points and place boards and detonators to take possession
  • Assist with other duties within the possession or work sites as required

About You:


  • In depth knowledge of possession requirements and Railway Group Standards
  • Geographical knowledge of the North East area
  • IT Skills, including word and excel
  • Mentoring and coaching skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • A team player but also able to work on own initiative
  • Selfmotivated and flexible
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality record.
  • PTS, IWA and PS competencies
  • Rail Incident Investigater Qualified
