Information Asset Registrar


Salary:
£39,469 to £47,089 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £39,469 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £47,089 will be via incremental progression.

The Registrar is responsible for managing the quality, integrity and validity of the information held within the Information Asset Register. The role holder will be required to undertake learning and development in Data Management legislation and the Data Protection Act 2018. They will build a network with other force registrars to share good practice and learning. The Registrar will be instrumental in providing timely information to the Senior Leadership Team and ensure our team of Engagement Managers are well informed of any actions to be progressed with the Information Asset Owners and Assistants.


The Registrar records and manages all risks associated with the Information Asset Register, this includes updating the IAR Risk Register, the Data Office Risk Register, and the Data Board Risk Register.

They have overall responsibility for co-ordinating and managing the Information Asset Owner's Portfolio Meeting, which occurs every 6-weeks.

This includes gathering information from the wider Data Office to progress through the Asset Owners for action, discussion, or escalation to Data Board, create an agenda and presentation slides, update actions and provide minutes.

The Registrar will chair a 6 weekly Band C Data Office meeting, which will provide an information flow between Data Governance, Data Analytics and Data Foundations.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Oversight, management, and maintenance of the Information Asset Register PowerApp
  • Manage a high performing, dynamic team of Band D Information Asset Manager
  • Design and conduct quality assurance testing for the Information Assets held on the Register
  • Identify IAR inaccuracies and escalate to the Information Asset Engagement Team for rectification with the Information Asset Owners
  • Monitor Information Asset Owner attendance at the Portfolio Meetings
  • Proactively track asset management standards and legislation, analyse data and report on progress against targets, legislative compliance, and trends
  • Work closely with the appropriate teams within the Data Office to ensure that all risks raised within the IAR are properly sighted and mitigated accordingly
  • Set and monitor KPIs to measure the performance of the Information Asset Team
  • Identify priority data mapping exercises required and work with the Digital Policing Data Mapping Team to produce an information flow from a system
  • Dealing with senior stakeholders via steering committees, working groups, board presentations, specific IAO briefings and executive management briefings
  • Have a dynamic and innovative approach to managing the team, change and deliverables to the MPS
  • Build a National Network of Information Asset Register Practitioners

Vetting
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis.

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post; with a willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) once in post, if required.

Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access.

However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties.

For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) OR Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.
