Catering Manager

JOB PURPOSE:


The core focus of this job is to assist the Cooks in delivering an efficient catering service operating to the highest standards of food safety.

The post holder will do this by carrying out duties such as setting out and putting away dining furniture, taking payment from students and staff and cleaning the kitchen and dining room.


JOB CONTEXT:


The cashier works as part of the catering team ensuring cleanliness of the dining hall and accurate charges of food and drink purchases on the till system.

The post holder is not carrying out arithmetic calculations.

An enhanced DBS is required.

The ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence through the medium of English is essential.


ACCOUNTABILITIES / MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:


Operational Issues

  • Filling the fridges with sandwiches, drinks and snacks.
  • Using the cashier till to record accurate purchases of food and drink.
  • Ensuring the tidiness and cleanliness of the dining room.
  • Cleaning the dining room tables and floor after service.
  • Assisting with cleaning in the kitchen as required.

Communications

  • Communicate effectively with other members of staff and pupils within the school.

Resource management

  • To participate in the training and development and performance management processes within the school.
  • Store food and drink in fridges as directed by the Catering Manager.

Safeguarding

  • Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people that you are responsible for and come into contact with.
  • Know about data protection issues in the context of the role.
  • Maintain confidentiality as appropriate.

Systems and Information

  • To fulfil the necessary administrative tasks associated with the responsibilities of the post.

Data Protection

  • To comply with the Trusts policies and supporting documentation in relation to Information Governance this includes Data Protection, Information Security and Confidentiality.

Health and Safety

  • Be aware of and implement your health and safety responsibilities as an employee and where appropriate any additional specialist or managerial health and safety responsibilities as defined in the Health and Safety policy and procedure.
  • To work with colleagues and others to maintain health, safety and welfare within the working environment.
  • Perform duties in line with health & safety regulations (COSHH) and take action where hazards are identified, reporting serious hazards to line manager immediately.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to undertake necessary training e.g. food hygiene

  • Level 1 Food Hygiene Certificate
