Calderdale's Homelessness Service strives to support people who face homelessness by providing advice, safe accommodation and support. Within the homelessness services, The Safe Accommodation team provide additional support for those experiencing domestic abuse.


We are seeking to recruit a Safe Accommodation Housing Support Worker to support people who require safe accommodation and need additional support with mental health, drug or alcohol addiction.

The post holder will have a low case load to be able to take a flexible strength based approach and assertive housing support.

This role is predominantly based at the Calderdale Refuge.


The Refuge aims to help women and children fleeing domestic abuse by providing them with temporary accommodation and assist clients to secure and move into their own accommodation supporting them in a holistic and trauma informed way and building partnerships with external agencies.


  • Have a Level 3 qualification in Social Care, Health, Housing, other Level 3 qualification together or proven relevant experience
  • Have experience of working directly with adults who have experienced multiple disadvantage and or experience of working with people with drug or alcohol or mental health needs. Also knowledge of domestic abuse and the impacts on adults
  • Be able to demonstrate that you have a good understanding of professional boundaries, safeguarding, risk assessment, and confidentiality.
