An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Mental Health Carer Support Officer to work within the East Riding Carers Support Service to support informal carers who are supporting people experiencing mental health difficulties, living in the community.

The service offered will involve joint working with other services within the Council (such as Adult Community Wellbeing Teams) and the Mental Health Trust; with other partner organisations, statutory and voluntary and working with families/significant others in order to provide a high quality, professional service to people experiencing mental health issues and result in a holistic 'assessment' to meet a person's needs for support, advice and care.

The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team working alongside a range of other professionals.


You will be required to undertake Adult Carers Assessments as per the Care Act 2014 as well as providing individual support and managing your own caseload.


Other duties will involve acting as duty officer, providing crisis support/intervention, formulating and reviewing support plans in line with Local Authority procedures.

You will be required to store and retrieve electronic data on the Adult Information System (Azeus) and have some supervisory responsibilities.

You will also be expected to contribute to and develop the service in line with national and local drivers.

A full driving licence is required as the service supports carers across the East Riding of Yorkshire. Performance expectations are set for the team as a whole and on an individual basis in order to meet demand and enhance the customer journey

All new staff will receive a comprehensive induction, regular supervision, employee performance reviews and training opportunities. The team currently operates between Monday and Friday although the role requires the ability to be flexible.
