REPORTS TO:
Supervisor - Data Management Team


LIAISES WITH:

Practice Partners, Clinical Teams, Practice Manager, Deputy Practice Manager, Practice and PCN staff; patients and users of the Practice, external parties working with the Practice, as required.


DIRECT REPORTS:
N/A


HOURS:37.5 hours pw - 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (including unpaid 30-minute lunch break)

Job Summary


As a member of the Data Management Team to support the Supervisor - Data Management Team in ensuring that all tasks are conducted in compliance with relevant Practice processes and regulatory requirements.


Responsibilities

The Clinical Coder will be responsible for:

  • Processing all patient data received by the Practice, in both digital and paper formats, and adding it to the Practice's systems in an accurate, efficient and timely manner to an agreed standard and timeframe.
  • Ensuring that any actions required, following receipt of the documents, are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Dealing with queries relating to coding.
  • Ensuring data quality is excellent and recommending processes for improvement, as necessary.
  • Investigating and resolving all internal Practice queries in relation to patient medical records in a timely fashion.
  • Following the Practice's Workflow protocols.
  • Supporting other members of the Data Management Team, when necessary.
  • Working in a flexible way to help meet the needs of the Practice.
  • Inputting and extracting data, as required, to support the production of Practice reports.
  • Taking part in data collection and audits to help understand data.
  • At all times, to maintain Patient confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in EMIS and Docman
  • Knowledge/experience of clinical coding and GP Workflow protocols
  • Good working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Highly responsible and reliable.
