  • HR0142373We are seeking to appoint a part time (0.6FTE) Mental Health Advisor to join our multidisciplinary, BACP accredited, Counselling and Mental Health Service.
The post holder will be responsible for providing specialist mental health support to our diverse student community.

This includes working collaboratively with internal and external professionals to develop and deliver a range of high-quality interventions for our students throughout the academic year.


This is a complex role involving three main areas of focus: triage and assessment for current students and applicants (which may include supporting students with reasonable adjustments for their studies) crisis intervention and training and consultation.


The purpose of this work is to facilitate equal opportunities, student engagement and full participation in academic studies and the university experience to enable students to fulfil their potential whilst staying well.


Essential requirements:


  • Qualified to degree level.
  • A relevant professional qualification in the field of mental health: mental health nursing, clinical psychology, social work, counselling / psychotherapy.
  • A current membership of a professional body.
  • Substantial postqualification experience and enhanced DBS check.
  • The ability to handle multiple competing priorities in your daily work, strong communication, administration and IT skills.
  • Be adept at handling a complex caseload in an intense environment.
This is a campus-based 0.6FTE role during Service opening hours Grade 8.


There will be occasional Saturday work to cover other staff members of the core team when needed and out of hours work if crisis situations require.
