Internal Auditor.

Salary:
£45,000 to £50,000


The Role
As Internal Auditor, you will be responsible for leading audit activities from planning to conclusion.

You will be collaborating with management on improving control effectiveness and presenting summarised findings to varying levels of authority across the business.


You'll be expected to develop trust and relationships across the business to support the team's active involvement in the risk management process and to inspire change and continuous improvement, whilst upholding professional standards in internal auditing.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, scope and undertake audit assignments effectively and efficiently with mínimal supervision, ensuring work is produced to the required standard and deadline by identifying key risks to business objectives, assessing and testing controls using data analysis where applicable and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Implement and manage a governance framework ensuring all internal governance controls are adhered to. This includes board meeting preparation, adherence to internal governance requirements, board documentation and minute taking, circulation of follow up of actions, subcommittee oversight, and retention of audit trails in relation to governance.
  • Maintaining positive relationships within the business, being "hands on" in helping to overcome problems, assessing threats, driving improvements and raising general awareness of risk management.
  • Produce considered high quality audit reports, written in a clear and concise manner to highlight potential risks to senior management, obtaining their commitment to improvement through documented actions,
  • Presenting findings to a diverse range of audiences.
  • Actively monitoring actions arising from the audit activity and supporting management implementing these improvement observations, helping to share and promote best practice across the group.
  • Ensure robust fraud prevention and investigation activities exist to reduce the threats of employee and contract fraud and protect our reputation and revenue streams.
  • Conduct or direct internal investigations in relation to all aspects of potential fraud and take the lead for the organisation in relation to fraud and whistleblowing practices ensuring that they are fully embedded and adhered to.
  • Contributing to the development and upkeep of the internal audit plan, assessment of the group's principal risks and the wider upkeep of policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring the business is compliant with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards in all activities. Upholding transparency, integrity, and accountability in interactions with stakeholders and governing bodies
  • Maintain a database of corrective actions and monitor the progress made to implement these across the business escalating risk to senior leadership where appropriate.

Person Specification

  • Proven experience of internal auditing standards and procedures and in audit or risk management
  • Demonstratable knowledge of accounting principles and industry standards.
  • Proven experience in being able to manage several projects at any one time, whilst still delivering high quality and timely results.
  • Extensive technical and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Proficient in MS office tools including Word and Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal skills, with ability to interact positively and build relationships with all levels of the organisation.
  • Flexible individual who can travels to various site across the UK as and when required (at the expense of the business).
  • Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or CIA/CMIIA) or auditing qualification.
