As Planning Lead for Clinical Manufacturing and Supply - you will be accountable for managing mid-term and short-term Demand and Supply planning for the Clinical Supply Chain across the full AZ Research & Development portfolio through all phases of clinical development.

You will own the planning Demand and Supply processes, ensuring they are driven effectively across the business area and monitoring their performance in terms of cost effective patient supply.

We'll support you to define the future strategic direction for planning, working closely with the Head of Digital and IT to ensure an aligned technology strategy.


What you'll do:


We'll need you to define & deliver the longer term Supply and Demand Planning strategic direction for the Clinical Supply Chain.

This will include defining & owning the clinical and operating delivery structure for all aspects of clinical supply chain delivery.

This is within a large and complex environment, ensuring full integration of supply services and supporting systems and technology.

You will develop and implement integrated supply planning strategies that cover multiple functional areas within supply chain delivery. These will align with and support the organisation's vision, current and long-term business objective.


We will expect you to collaborate with the Digital Centre of Excellence and IT to align future process needs with IT system and data management.


You will lead the Global Business Process Owners for Demand and Supply Planning ensuring planning processes are both effective (in delivering the optimal balance between service and costs in the supply chain) and efficient (consume the least amount of effort necessary to deliver the outcomes needed).


You will hold accountability for ensuring processes cover the full range of planning across demand and supply for the Gartner CORE model (Configure, Optimise, Respond and Execute).Whilst also identifying and delivering enhancements in process quality & efficiency.


You'll define and monitor operational supply chain performance targets within your area, setting key performance indicators, measuring progress and activity taking remedial action to deliver against agreed service standards.

Acting as a primary contact for customers and coordinates arbitration when required.


Through active coaching, you'll develop a strong leadership talent pipeline and supports senior staff to coach and develop planning talent to ensure a healthy talent pipeline and succession across the organisations senior positions.


We'll expect you to contribute to the development of the AstraZeneca wide policy and process within the Clinical supply area, partnering with Clinical Manufacturing and Supply leadership to provide input into strategic direction of the function.

In addition, you'll manage the Study Design and Planning groups that work across the Therapy Areas.


Essential Requirements:


  • Deep experience in a planning and logistics within a manufacturing, sales and marketing or clinical supply environment
  • Ability to influence and direct partner decisionmaking at senior levels
  • Proven track record to inspire and lead change globally within a diverse and matrix organisational environment
  • Advanced business management skillset including both financial planning and team management
  • Experience of driving significant Planning transformations and working in a global setting would be beneficial
