Sessional Engagement Worker (16hrs per week)

Location:
Bristol and South Gloucestershire


Contract:
Permanent

Working Hours: 16 Hours Per-Week


Starting salary:
£19,500 FTE (pro-rata)

Job Purpose


As a Sessional Engagement Worker you will work as part of a team whose aim is to provide a safe space that contributes to the social and mental wellbeing of local young people.

Your role will be to enhance young people's self-development through their participation in activities and discussions, and their involvement in the running of the centre, with an emphasis on having fun.


In this role, your primary areas of responsibility will be:

  • To participate in the running of a programme of activities, services and facilities
  • To participate in the overall management of the unit
  • To promote and encourage participation and the empowerment of young people
  • To promote good equal opportunities practices and to take positive steps to counter discrimination however and wherever it occurs
  • To attend meetings, and prepare reports as required
  • To contribute to service planning

The skills and experience that you will bring to this role are:

Essential:

  • Warm and approachable personality
  • A belief in young people and a basic understanding of attachment and trauma
  • To be open minded and accepting of others
  • Commitment to the development, understanding and implementing of Equal
Opportunities

  • Practical approach to problem solving
  • Literacy and numeracy skills
  • A willingness to work towards a youth work qualification is essential

Desirable:

  • Proven activity skills
  • A record of achievements with young people
  • Experience of working with young people
  • Any qualification/training relevant to personal care and/or working with young people
