An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Quality, Risk and Safety (Governance) team for Maternity as a Clinical Effectiveness Lead on a full time, permanent basis.


Working as part of a team you will take an active role in supporting the Maternity Quality, Risk & Safety team and using your knowledge and experience to provide Assurance, Compliance and Effectiveness in delivering against the Quality Assurance agenda across Maternity services.

This role includes the day to day management and leadership of the Clinical Effectiveness team and you will offer support and guidance to ensure there is continued progress and development of the wider Clinical Effectiveness agenda, as well as being responsive to changes that are derived nationally.

You will also support the Maternity Governance Team to promote efficiency in clinical governance performance as well as making a positive contribution to the work of the team.

You will need to be an individual who enjoys collaborative working and is committed to continuous quality improvement and patient safety.

Main duties of the job

You will provide key leadership experience within this team and will focus on;

  • Providing advice and support to the Clinical Effectiveness team and the Divisional Quality, Risk & Safety team on all issues relating to Quality Assurance. _(e.g. mapping auditable standards and action plan development, evidence collation and reporting.)_
  • Support early learning following inspections and regulatory visits to include responding to immediate concerns with clinical standards.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the Trusts Quality Priorities and Quality Assurance annual plans ensuring priorities and deliverables support the achievement of the Trusts strategy and objectives.
  • Write robust reports identifying achievable and effective actions that translate into improvements with learning and safety in Maternity Services.
  • Develop and maintain effective working processes and relationships to ensure performance and quality standards are maintained.
  • To provide analysis related intelligence to support organisational learning and improvement.
  • Ensure all communication with patients, relatives, carers and staff are open and honest and that reporting is transparent, independent and of excellent standard with effective actions defined.
  • Represent the Maternity Quality, Risk and Safety Team at key Trustwide groups and within the region at the Local Maternity and Neonatal Services (LMNS) and associated programmes of work
