The role will involve:
- Supporting a boy in Year 1 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Avoidance Demand (AD)
- Helping the child to feel safe and secure in the classroom and other environments
- Developing and implementing strategies to manage AD and other challenging behaviours
- Collaborating with the child's teacher and other support staff to ensure that his individual needs are met
- Assisting with activities of daily living, such as eating and toileting, as required
- Facilitating communication and social interaction with peers and adults
- Supporting the child in his academic and social development
- Participating in regular meetings to review the child's progress and plan for future support
