  • This is an exciting opportunity to manage a frontline team responsible for responding to incidents and regulating permitted sites across Lincolnshire & Northamptonshire. We are looking for somebody who can show strong leadership of change as we embed new ways of working through the Strength in Regulation programme which seeks to embed a more efficient way of working to support our people, provide greater accountability and customer satisfaction leading to better environmental outcomes.
You will manage and lead a team of regulatory officers setting work priorities to ensure delivery against our targets. You will support their personal development and look after their welfare on a day-to-day basis.

You will also need to work closely with other teams across Water Land and Biodiversity and Regulatory Industry to ensure an effective delivery of service and look to innovate and embed new ways of working with the team whilst contributing to the wider leadership of our department and Area.

Understanding the needs of our customers, both those we regulate and the communities that can be affected, are key requirements.

Working with professional partners is increasingly important if we're to realise our ambitions, so you'll need to build these relationships to help and support your team in delivering their ambitions for our local environment and the communities they serve.

The Teams core responsibilities include delivering Water Quality, Water Resources, Land Management and Agriculture permitting and compliance work, incident response and providing advice and guidance balanced with the need to take carry out investigations and take robust enforcement action to resolve issues quickly.


  • The team
  • You will be part of the lively and dynamic Land and Water Team, which protects some of the most sensitive and well used environment in the UK. The team regulates a range of permitted sites from water abstractors to intensive pig and poultry farms to Water Company discharges. The team also responds to pollution incidents and investigates illegal activities as well as supporting incident management cross functionally with our Flood teams.

  • Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
