Oldham Council are currently seeking a Purchasing Officer to work on a full time, temporary basis.

Location:
Metropolitan Place, Oldham


Hours: 36 per week

Purchasing Officer supporting CSC Permanence and Long Term Teams


Key tasks are:


  • Administrate and deliver the day to day purchasing function
  • Set up purchasing information within the Council's case management system to ensure that Top up payments are paid the correct amount.
  • Run weekly or monthly payment cycles relating to the above, as appropriate.
  • Liaise with staff across Children's Social Care in respect of financial procedures for purchasing and assist with accurate record keeping to ensure all payments are accurate, properly authorised and budgeted for.
  • Conduct regular quality checks to ensure that payments are only being made where appropriate.
  • Reconcile invoices from providers against the services they have been requested to provide and ensure the amounts requested and paid are accurate.
  • Record, investigate and sensitively resolve customer and provider enquiries through accessing information from appropriate systems, liaising with colleagues and ensuring compliance with the data protection act.
  • Help gather information to support responses to Freedom of Information requests.
  • Produce reports and statistics using the Council's case management system, and other computer packages as appropriate.
  • Liaise with the Council's Finance and Audit functions as needed to reconcile information and ensure all appropriate procedures are followed and information shared appropriately

You must have:
Purchasing Officer - role profile

  • Experience and knowledge of using financial processes and procedures
  • Good organisational skills and be able to work on own initiative.
  • Be a flexible team player, able to work at pace with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of using computer packages and internal systems.
  • Knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulations
