The Role:


As a Family Support Worker, you will provide vital support to families in need, working closely with them to overcome challenges and achieve positive change.


Reporting to the Team Manager, you will:

  • Build trusting relationships with families and help them develop their skills and resilience.
  • Offer practical assistance and guidance in accessing community resources and support services.
  • Collaborate with professionals from various disciplines to coordinate multiagency support plans.
  • Contribute to assessments and reviews, ensuring the best possible outcomes for children and families.

  • A relevant qualification and experience in working with vulnerable families.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries.
  • The capacity to work effectively under pressure, managing a complex caseload and prioritizing tasks.
  • A sensitive and nonjudgmental approach, treating families with empathy and respect.
  • A commitment to promoting safeguarding and the welfare of children.

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year.

Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council's corporate buildings.


This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.
