Bicycle Mechanic

Location:
Birmingham, B29 6EY


Job type:
Permanent, full-time


Working Hours: 40 hours per week. Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm


Salary:
£22,000 per annum + excellent benefits


We operate the exciting new West Midlands Cycle Hire scheme on behalf of Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) and the West Midlands County Authority (WMCA).

We operate 1500 bikes and eBikes within the region including in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and Coventry.


As the Bike Mechanic, you will be responsible for carrying out repairs, services, quality control and any other bicycle maintenance tasks at our dedicated Bicycle Workshop, ensuring that our bikes are safe for all users.

Will sometimes be required to help the on-street team in distribution repaired bikes and dock maintenance.

This role directly impacts the number of roadworthy bicycles that are available for service users across the West Midlands.

You won't be doing this alone either.

Our team is made up of professional, friendly, and supportive teammates, including managers who began their careers with Serco as Bicycle Mechanics who now hold Team Leader, Supervisor, Operations Manager and Contract Manager titles.


We are dedicated to the ongoing development and career progression of our Bicycle Mechanics, with outstanding training opportunities made available to you, along with the chance to undertake additional qualifications.

These include, but are not limited to, Health & Safety courses, Team Leader and Management training and a supportive management team who will provide guidance and advice to ensure you achieve all that you want to with Serco.


What do I need to do the role?


To be considered for a position within our team, you should have excellent Bicycle Maintenance knowledge, or extensive working experience in this field and be willing to undertake formal training as part of your probation period should you be successful.

A good understanding of eBikes will be necessary. Will be required hold a full driving licence to drive a company van when required.
