JOB DESCRIPTION


Bloxham School is looking to appoint a Kitchen Porter to be responsible for the cleanliness and overall hygiene of the kitchen along with receiving food deliveries into the kitchen and stores.

The role is made up of many varying responsibilities including:

  • Unloading and putting away deliveries
  • Organising the Storeroom and ensuring kitchen equipment is properly stored
  • Cleaning and disinfecting all areas of food preparation & kitchen appliances
  • Collecting, washing, and returning all pots, pans & utensils
  • Removing and recycling waste from the kitchen areas and ensuring it is disposed of in the appropriate manner
  • Cleaning and mopping the kitchen floor as and when required
  • Keeping chemicals to the right level in kitchen dispensers and controlling the restocking and organizing of chemicals in secured storage area
  • Being available to assist the front of house team when required
  • Deep cleaning fridges and storerooms to maintain excellent food safety and hygiene standards
  • Ensuring compliance with food hygiene standards, procedures and policies as directed by the management team; following cleaning schedules
  • Carrying out any other duty as reasonably required, as directed by catering management
  • Assisting with setting up and clearing away during School events

Working Hours: 37.5 hour working 5 days over 7, (6am - 2pm/11am - 7pm, every other weekend off).


Bloxham School is a 7 day a week operation and it regularly hosts events outside of its core hours; flexibility to overtime and out-of-hours work is therefore a requirement of the role.


Salary:
£22,412

  • Willingness to work as part of a team
  • Passion for working in the Catering industry
  • Initiative and selfmotivation
  • Reasonable physical fitness
  • A good understanding of food and health and safety practices, particularly with reference to working in a kitchen
  • Flexible approach to duties and working hours and a willingness to work antisocial hours as required
  • A willingness to complete training as directed (COSHH/ Food Hygiene/Health & Safety etc.)
  • Positive 'cando' attitude
  • Approachable and friendly
  • Good team player
  • Ability to follow instructions
