We are looking for a
Lead Piping Designer to join the European Operations team.
As the Lead Piping Designer, You will
- Lead piping design projects through all stages of Design through to handover to Construction ensuring that all design deliverables reference and comply with the latest codes, standards and specifications and costs remain on or underbudget, identifying and communicating all scope changes and/or schedule issues.
- Lead Piping design team activities to execute projects in accordance with project specifications, company procedures and industry practices. Effectively communicate execution strategies, schedule issues and project requirements.
- Deliver execution strategies, layouts and studies, bid and design packages. Interface with other disciplines to produce complete and functional deliverables and packages.
- Model equipment and piping conceptual layouts, basic design and detailed design in SmartPlant 3D (S3D). Review and approve project deliverables (including isometric drawings and design packages) for piping team members.
- Responsible for preparing or reviewing 2D plant layouts and plot plans using Microstation.
- Lead model reviews internally and externally.
- Interface with other Lead Engineers to ensure handoffs between departments are planned and fully understood.
- Manage team resources, support development of technical competences and provide technical support, instruction, and guidance to Piping team members as needed.
- Attend site and meetings when required. Participate in shop and site inspections and provide field support.
As the Lead Piping Designer, You will have
- Experience in a relevant industry preferably has field piping design expertise working with oil & gas, PetroChem, cryogenic or LNG companies. Experience working on brownfield projects and installations is beneficial.
- Working knowledge of other engineering disciplines and their interactions with Piping and Layout.
- Excellent written and spoken English and strong communication skills.
- Handson experience of SmartPlant 3D piping software and associated modules is mandatory.
- Experience with drafting tools (AutoCAD, Microstation etc.) is essential.
- A working knowledge of valves, inline devices and typical support details. Should have experience of pipe support and pipe stress work processes. Construction experience, in planning for installation and access of equipment, is beneficial.
- Experience of design verification (as an approver) of piping design deliverables and knowledge of industry codes and standards
- Experience in leading a team of Piping Engineers and Designers is preferred.
- Excellent problemsolver and can effectively communicate issues and solutions effectively.
