Description

We are looking for an experienced communicator or former journalist to join our communications team as deputy head of communications.

You will need to be the sort of person who can seek out and tell the stories that make our organisation unique.

You'll get to be proactive, reactive, and everything in between.

If you are creative, used to working in a fast-paced environment, managing your own changing priorities while helping the wider communications team to do the same then you could be just the person we're looking for.

The Deputy Head of Communications will work with the Head of Communications to lead a trust-wide communications and engagement service.

You will help to establish and maintain good communications and relationships with key stakeholders including staff, patients, members of the public, partner organisations and the media.

As a trusted advisor in this specialist field, you will use your knowledge to make recommendations on the best tools and channels to deliver messages and achieve the goals set out in the Trust's strategy and the communication and engagement strategic delivery plan.

You will brief journalists, anticipate media enquiries, and generate positive coverage of the Trust.

You will be an experienced manager, providing management and leadership to the communications team.

We're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

We are a people organisation and people matter to us.

As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.

Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.

We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals.

Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.

Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
