What you'll be doing.....
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Horticultural/Landscaping Apprentice to join our team. This apprenticeship programme is ideal for someone looking for a structured, supportive and challenging apprenticeship.

This 2-year training programme will give you the opportunity to carry out a real job with real responsibility, coupled with a focus on training and development whilst working towards a Level 2 Horticulture Operative Apprenticeship.

You will be fully supported by an in house mentor and an assessor.

We are working in conjunction with a local training provider to help you achieve your career goals - this includes a programme of study and off-the-job learning.

On-the-job training working towards a Level 2 Horticulture and Landscaping Apprenticeship.

You will be working with teams of experienced and specialist individuals, you will have an opportunity to learn about various aspects of the role of a Horticultural Operative, with a view to further training and development after your apprenticeship.

You are not expected to have any particular horticultural knowledge or experience, but this would be an advantage.

You will, however, be expected to demonstrate an interest in and understanding of the nature of the role.

Joining Downham Home & Garden, you will start your horticultural career as an apprentice, with a range of duties to include:

Assisting advising customers in the plant and landscaping area of the Garden Centre
Supporting the Horticulture and Landscape Manager, pruning, leaf clearing, weeding, deadheading of flowers, planting
Assisting with plant and landscaping displays
Supporting the stock ordering process

And other duties as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Reliable and punctual
Adaptable and flexible
Willingness to undertake the full apprenticeship training programme and any other training required to enhance your development
5 GCSE's including Maths/English grades 94 or equivalent
