Description

As a team member you will be helping to deliver a wide variety of work to ensure that we have the right flood risk assets in the right places.


  • A key part of the role is assisting with the delivery of new flood & coastal erosion assets such as flood walls & embankments. and management of our existing assets This will include site work, completing visual asset condition inspections to help understand our asset base,. You will collect, analyse, and interpret information on them to ensure that we maintain them to their optimum level. You will help manage our asset data to ensure it is up to date and can be relied upon to inform our future investment programme.
  • The role also encompasses ensuring exceptional standards of safety & successfully delivering of our strategy.
  • You will use your excellent communication skills to liaise with a range of internal colleagues such as our field teams, external organisations and individually with customers who require help or information from us.
The role will involve both office and regular field working.

In addition, incident management forms a crucial part of the job and you will be expected to participate in a standby rota, on call and overtime is paid for this.

The team

  • Asset management plays a huge part in the work that the EA does; helping to protect against flooding and minimising the risks caused by any floods that occur. We do this by working alongside local councils, charities & others. We ensure that assets are inspected, surveyed, maintained & operated in a safe & effective manner. The teams work across Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire & Gloucestershire.
Experience/skills required

  • Personal Proficiencies:
  • Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers
  • Delivery of work by planning, tracking, gathering and maintaining data/information
  • An appreciation of flood risk assets or assessment management (desirable but not essential)
  • Ability to work on your own initiative, and as part of a team to make decisions and achieve planned outcomes
  • Good organisational skills and an ability to use MS Office
  • Excellent communication skills are a must as you'll be working with a diverse range of people.
