Health & Safety Champion will have an important role in supporting our expressed vision to build a culture where everyone's behaviour supports a safe environment within a successful and sustainable business.

You will play a key part in supporting our health and safety improvement programme and be expected to advise, encourage and train colleagues to work safely.


Job Responsibility and Duties Include but not limited to:

  • Develop, delivery & validate safety training programmes to continually upskill Team Leaders & Section Managers.
  • Monitor Focus forward data to highlight areas of concern & improvements.
  • Provide one to one or team coaching, practical advice and / or assistance to team members related to health, safety, or environmental issues.
  • Assist in investigation of accidents, near misses, incidents & NDSB's.
  • Continually assess Rick Assessments for validity and conformance.
  • Complete Structured daily safety walks ensuring attendance of Team Leaders.
  • Facilitate monthly Value Stream Safety Meeting.
  • Liaises with the Training Team meet to greet new starters along with completing local safety inductions.
  • Complete daily standard work adherence checks with an emphasis on new starters.
  • Constant review of training and training records to check conformity with an emphasis on new starters.
  • Collaborate with H&S team to create safety message topics for PIDS/ communications.
  • Monitor CI process reviewing safety CI Cards
  • OPM check validation.
  • Deliver Safety Anniversary training.
  • Coach on Safety Best Practice.
  • Assist with the development of dynamic rick assessments.
  • Lead by example in promoting a proactive and positive safety culture reinforcing Caterpillar's safety message.

  • You must be passionate about improving the health, safety and environmental performance across Building Constructions Products operations.
  • The role requires you to be selfmotivated and have good written and oral communication skills.
  • Teamwork and flexibility are essential prerequisites.
  • Willing to learn.
  • Must be able to demonstrate that you have the ability to coach and mentor following training employees.
  • The ability to organise and manage your own workload.
  • Flexibility in supporting BCP UK operations
  • A relevant qualification would be an advantage (NEBOSH, IOSH) although training will be provided to equip the jobholder with the skills and knowledge to successfully perform this role to the standards required, this training programme will be determined following a training needs analysis has been carried out with the individual.
  • Ability to work towards a safety qualification (NEBOSH / BSC L3)

starting £24,527.58 and rising to £25,781.30 when criteria of the role is met
