Job summary:

We are currently offering this fantastic opportunity inclusive of our £10K Recruitment & Retention scheme.

We are pleased to announce this exciting opportunity to recruit a consultant colleague to join our Team of 3 senior colleagues to support patients within Wigan Borough

Hours: 10 PA but post also suitable for applicants preferring to work less than full time:

The hospital team moved into purpose build accommodation on the hospital site in June 2023 which includes dedicated clinic space.

This has already enabled us to increase our outpatient activity, which we plan to develop further.

The proposed job plan includes consultant ward reviews with the hospital palliative care team with the potential to increase outpatient provision further, including rapid access clinics.

There are opportunities in both settings to have an education role, supporting medical students and doctors in training.

There is a degree of flexibility within the job plan; we will try to accommodate interests and preferences.

  • There are newly furbished postgraduate centres at both Royal Albert Edward Infirmary and Wrightington Hospital.
  • The trust supports the requirements of CME as laid down by the Royal College of Physicians and is committed to providing time and financial support for CME activities.
  • The trust recognises that mentoring is an essential support mechanism for newly appointed specialists.
  • The trust has in place a peer mentoring programme available to all consultants and speciality doctors.
