We are looking to appoint a Head of Employee Relations, who will play a key role in developing the employee relations strategy at CLCH which is primarily focused on developing a just and fair culture in support of our aims as an employer.


Critical to this role is the ongoing delivery of a highly professional and effective ER advisory service to the Trust whilst also seeking to continuously improve our delivery and support.


This role will ensure that the People Division and Divisional Managers are well informed of all HR/ER policies and procedures and will support the Divisions in advising and supporting on HR/ER cases and large-scale organisational change as well as working in partnership with staffside.


The postholder will be a strong effective leader and will diagnose, design and deliver HR/ER interventions that support a 'just, fair and learning culture' supported by the trust's range of HR/ER policies, processes, ER Tracker, leadership competence, guidance and training that contributes to the achievement of this important element of the People Strategy.


The post holder will also be a key member of the 'management side' of the CLCH partnership with staff side supporting the agenda setting of the JSCC, leading on the Trust's People Policy Development Meeting, reviewing and refreshing policies as required by legislation and the internal policy schedule and ensuring delivery of training and support to staff in respect of key changes.


Key to this will be our case management reporting utilising the 'ER Tracker' to ensure KPIs are met, trends are identified, and ER case work proceeds as smoothly as possible.


The role holder will also lead on ensuring the Agenda for Change Job Evaluation process is effective, in partnership with staff side colleagues.

  • Lead on the development of a culture of ER excellence and improvement through: Providing leadership to the People Division colleagues involved in ER work and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, Developing CLCH Leadership ER capability and competency across the trust building a consistent approach to HR management in a just and learning culture through the provision of insightful data and the development of a robust development programme and material and Working to effect a Just and Learning Culture at CLCH
  • Play a lead role with the Director of People and Deputy in developing the partnership relationship with staffside and setting partnership goals
  • Translate and implement Trust and People strategy and priorities into policies across HR teams and work with the HR BPs to communicate and develop capability in respect of any changes across the Trust
  • Provide advice and expertise to senior leaders on issues affecting employee relations, case management, organisational change/TUPE and HR policy
  • To work closely with the divisions to collectively ensure an effective HR and ER service is provided to the trust thereby ensuring the provision of legally compliant HR practice excellence through managing and mitigating workforce risks effectively
  • Engage and work with staff side representatives in a spirit of effective and positive partnership working built on mutual respect and appreciation of respective roles
  • To take the lead strategic role on specific ER projects, work programmes and initiatives, including HR management in a 'just and learning culture', People Strategy, employment law, policy development, Staff Side Partnership working and major workforce transformation projects
