Description

Some key information

  • Flexible working available, using a hybrid model working from home and your contracted work base
  • 30 days annual leave
  • Through proactive, multiagency working you'll collaborate with a range of service providers, facilitating the provision of a needsled service and creating positive outcomes for children in our care.

What will I be doing?
We're working to improve the lives of vulnerable children and young people in Somerset.

Joining our
Children Looked After teams as an
Advanced Practitioner you will:

  • Skilfully manage complex work with the most vulnerable children in our community and in our care.
  • Mentor and support less experienced colleagues to grow and develop as practitioners.
  • Have the opportunity to develop a practice specialism and have access to training to support this.
  • Continue to practise directly as a social worker while also developing your leadership skills.

We'll look to you to ensure all services are child focused, using a range of therapeutic skills and interventions to make sure that children reach their potential.

We have a commitment to fieldwork caseloads that are at a manageable level and our caseloads are generally lower than in other local authorities.

This will allow you to focus more time on individual children and families and deliver a higher level of service.

Alongside this, we want to provide you with the right work/ life balance, to support you as an individual, as well as an employee.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be.

You will:
- need to be educated to degree level, and Social Work England registered.
- have demonstrable experience in the field, with a commitment to maintaining and expanding your social work knowledge and skills.
- have excellent interpersonal and communication skills allowing you to work effectively in partnership with other agencies and teams.

Alongside this, you'll have excellent time keeping and a keen eye for detail, as you produce accurate reports and quality assure the work of less experienced colleagues.

Ideally you will have PEPS 1 but if not, you will have some experience of mentoring/coaching/supervising/leading your colleagues.

We are pleased to be recognised by OFSTED for providing a good service for children in Somerset but aspire to provide an outstanding one We aim to inspire, enable and unite the people who work with us.

We want you to invest in this journey as much as we will invest in you, through the training, togetherness, progression and engagement you'll enjoy here.

We're proud to be here for the people of Somerset. And that means everyone in Somerset.

An important part of this is ensuring that we are as diverse and inclusive as the people and communities we serve.
