Are you a recent graduate who has significant interest in land economy, grid and utilities surveying? If so, we're looking for a Land Rights Surveyor to join our team in Inverness


Our independent, highly specialised Grid and Infrastructure team assists landowners affected by proposals from electricity utilities, and developers seeking to install cables to serve offshore wind farms.

As a business, we have been involved in providing advice to farmers and landowners about the land rights sought by developers and utility companies for many years.

We were involved at the inception of large-scale onshore wind three decades ago and we're still at the forefront, facilitating the grant of land rights for electricity grid as well as the repowering of original wind farms, introducing new technology and enabling essential infrastructure to support a modern, thriving and green economy.


We're looking for recent graduates who have an interest/ focus in The Built Environment, Planning, Renewables, Land Economy, Geography, Law or Engineering Successful applicants must be proactive, willing to learn, have a keen eye for detail and excellent verbal/written communication skills.


What you'll be doing:


  • Working alongside our Head of Grid & Infrastructure, advising clients on access rights, compensation claims, and the practical issues arising from the installation of new infrastructure on their land.
  • Report writing.
  • Client visits and assessments (initially you will shadow other members of the team but in time this is something you will do alone).
  • Business development.
  • Negotiating the sale of land, and the grant of land rights for electricity lines, cables and substations.
  • Resolving disputes between landowners and third parties.
  • Liaising with clients, land agents, legal representatives, planning authorities, key stakeholders, contractors and other colleagues to prepare consent documents.
  • Resolving any disputes over wayleave rights or landownership.

About you:


  • A degree, 2:1 or above, in The Built Environment, Planning or Construction and/or a non
- cognate Degree such as Geography, Law or Engineering.

  • We are looking for someone who thrives in a busy environment.
  • A driver's licence & a car.
  • Excellent communication & organisational skills.
  • Literate and selfmotivated with a strategic mindset.
