Description
Acorn is currently seeking an experienced Buyer on behalf of their client, a global, leading organisation. This role will be part working from home and part office-based, near Swindon.Responsibilities:
- To lead, manage and deliver the procurement requirements of the business
- To lead and manage the delivery of a competitive supply chain through strategic and operational procurement
- To lead and manage the procurement team and department, with commercial and operational benefits being a key objective
- Ensure the integrity and compliance with internal systems, processes and procedures
- Actively ensure the department and team maintains appropriate liaison with internal stakeholders with the key objective of maintaining a proactive approach
- Ensure the continuity and expansion of the supply chain whilst maintaining competitive price solutions with the key objective of increased profitability
Key activities:
- Select suitable suppliers, prepare and issue enquiries, carry out quotation analysis and evaluation both on a project specific basis and longer term strategic framework agreements for both material / equipment suppliers and subcontractors
- Negotiate and agree contracts for both goods and services in line with budget requirements
- Negotiate and agree rebate contracts with key suppliers
- Support and assist Project Quantity Surveyors in the selection and appointment of project specific labour teams and subcontractors
- Advise and liaise with estimators to ensure current cost information is communicated at bid stage and assist with obtaining competitive project specific quotes for goods and services
- Ensure the procurement process is managed to facilitate project programmes
- Attend internal meetings to support the delivery of projects in line with budget and programme requirements
- Manage and coordinate the procurement and delivery of equipment on turnkey and key account projects
- Report on price variants, target delivery performance and supplier service levels
- Develop, maintain and improve supplier relationships and agreements
- Quantify and produce schedules of materials and goods requirements from drawings and specifications
- Undertake continuous monitoring and evaluation of the supply chain on both a regional and national basis, taking necessary actions to rationalise/expand the data base of suppliers
- Ensure that all suppliers and subcontractors are evaluated in line with company health & safety and competency requirements
- Manage, support and mentor the procurement team to ensure efficiency of the department
Requirements:
- Experience working within the shop fitting / construction sector
- Experience of leading and managing a team
- Qualified or part qualified professional (CIPS, CIOB or RICS)
- Educated to minimum GCSE level
