A little bit about what we are looking for...


As the Head of Repairs, you will be delivering all responsive repairs services to all PA properties ensuring that legislation and regulation requirements are met and that PA homes are maintained to a good standard, to the agreed target times or better.

This role will lead on all aspects of service delivery for heating and hot water systems across our portfolio including gas compliance, gas servicing, maintenance, and repairs to individual properties as well as to more complex blocks with shared commercial and alternative heating and hot water systems.

You will lead on delivering all aspects of our heating, hot water servicing and maintenance contracts, ensuring all aspects of the service and contract provisions are met.

This will include driving service improvements through our contracts and suppliers.


We are happy to offer hybrid working with this role; You will be required to be in the office for around 2/3 days per week with the rest being from home, however please bear in mind we may need you to be in the office more within your probation and training.

It's important to us that you feel fully ready and confident in the role before working from home. Of course if you'd prefer to be in the office more, then that is completely fine with us too


Your responsibilities...

  • Project a positive image of PA Housing by providing an excellent level of customer service to all customers, liaising with the complaints team to ensure complaints are responded to on time and to a high standard
  • Manage the Responsive Maintenance Team to ensure delivery of all aspects of the Responsive Repairs and its contractors
  • Deliver property related compliance services ensuring that legislation and regulatory requirements are met, that all compliance servicing and inspection regimes, maintenance and remedial works are carried out to a high standard. This will include compliance related services for all gas installations and electric heating, hot and coldwater systems, thermostatic mixer valves. This will also include all equipment that falls within the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations regularly serviced, tested and compliant
  • Ensure that the above services and systems meet and are maintained to current Building Regulations, Gas Safety Regulations, Heat Network (metering and billing) Regulations, Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems Technical Guidance (HSG 274) and Approve Code of Practice L8, British Standards, ACoPs and best practise guidance
  • Manage and oversee the Gas Teams to ensure delivery of all aspects of the gas breakdown and gas servicing programme to both domestic and commercial installations.
  • Ensure we maintain 100% compliancy with our annual gas servicing and inspection requirements
  • Be responsible for ensuring PA Housing complies with the Heat Network Regulations by registering our communal and district heating systems and retrofitting final customer meters where required
  • Be responsible for creating and meeting the requirements of our Gas Safety Management Plan (GSMP) and associated staff training to provide guidance on the implementation of the commitments contained in this policy
  • Maintain an uptodate master database of all properties that will indicate both where it does and does not have a responsibility for: landlord gas installations; other gas installations, thermostatic mixer valve inspection and testing; unadopted water plant. This will include the identification of properties where PA Housing has no responsibility but has an interest (e.g., a block managed by others but PA Housing owns a leasehold dwelling) or those where there is more than one responsible person
  • Where a responsibility for a landlords gas installation exists, hold full copies of the current and previous two Landlords Gas Safety Records (LGSR)
- which shall be completed in accordance with the Management Plan - spanning at least the last two years along with key reportable and auditable information

  • Support the Head of Property Services, to provide technical assistance and training to the property inspecting team to fulfil their requirements in undertaking regular inspection of plant room services
  • Work with the Head of Asset Management to review and update the annual 30year business plan capturing long, medium
- and short-term investment plans to meet the strategic aims of the PA Housing Asset Management and Decarbonisation Strategies
