We're looking for a maintenance person to join our team here at Balmoral Court.

Experience Required.

Monday - Friday.


Reports to:

Home Manager

Home Supervisor


Key Tasks:

At all times to maintain effective communication and liaison with the Crown Care Group home manager, deputy manager, registered nurse and senior carer to ensure the smooth, safe and effective implementation of maintenance procedures.


  • To promote and display a professional image commensurate with the high standards of the Crown Care Group.
  • To take responsibility for the maintenance of the interior and the exterior of the Home and grounds. In conjunction with the wider care team to adhere to the home's philosophies and goals and statement of purpose.

General Maintenance:


  • To report any known defects to appliances, damaged furniture / equipment and any other potential hazards to the Home Manager, who will advise of remedial actions accordingly.
  • To assist in the general repair and maintenance of the Home both externally and internally to promote effective operation and service.
  • To promote a pleasant and safe environment for clients, staff and visitors.
  • To carry out decoration as and when required in order to maintain standard of Home.
  • To test the fire alarm system, and log results, weekly. Checking call points, fire exits, doorretaining devices and fire emergency lights, as specified in Company procedures.
  • To ensure all ventilation units and lights are kept clean.
  • To replace any defective light bulbs / diffusers.
  • To have responsibility for the general oversight of the heating, lighting and use of water at the Home.
  • To maintain a "Maintenance Book" in which defects are recorded by all members of staff. Use this book to effect repairs / replacements daily.
  • To take responsibility for maintaining stores, equipment and tools.
  • To assist / supervise with deliveries to the Home. Monitoring delivered goods closely.

Communication:


  • To liaise with the Home Manager, or a delegated Staff Member, regarding maintenance work to be carried out.
  • To participate in staff and client meetings as required.

Training and Development:


  • To attend mandatory training days / courses, on or off site, as and when required.
  • To maintain professional knowledge and competence.

Health and Safety:


  • To ensure all chemicals / equipment are used correctly and safety procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • To ensure that paints and varnishes are used and stored only in accordance with manufacturers' instructions.
  • To ensure areas in which any painting / varnishing work is being done is well ventilated and safe for clients, visitors and members of staff.
  • To report immediately to the Home Manager, or person in charge, of any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a client, staff member, visitor or you in person.
  • To understand and ensure the implementation of the Home's Health and Safety, Infection Control and hygiene policies, and Emergency and Fire procedures.
  • To promote safe working practice in the Home.
  • To maintain the maintenance file, adhering strictly to all the maintenance checks required by legislation e.g. legionella, fire safety, environmental checks, hot water systems, machinery, medical equipment, lifts.

General duties

  • To contribute to the safeguarding of adults by ensuring you are aware of your role in relation to the Home's Safeguarding Adult's Policy, taking steps to protects Residents from any form of abuse or neglect and use the appropriate reporting mechanisms to inform the Home's management of any concerns.
  • To adhere to all new, and changes in Local and Central Government initiatives as and when they are implemented.
  • To inform the Home Manager or person in charge of any visit to the Home by Contractors.
  • To record any visit in appropriate file.
  • To undertake driving duties if required.
  • To promote and ensure the good reputation of the Home.
  • To ensure all information of a confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties.
  • To notify the Home Manager, or the person in charge, as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty, and also on your return to work from all periods of absence.
  • To ensure the security of the Home is maintained at all times.
  • To adhere to all Company policies and procedures within the defined timescales.
  • To carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.
  • To be available for advice / action in emergencies that may arise out of hours unless there are circumstances that make this impossible.
