When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family.

Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.

About the role


This role is a temporary post for 12 months, working with Teens and Young Adults, providing an efficient and effective service to children, young people and families diagnosed with cancer.

This will include delivering services in line with the organisation's service specifications and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team across health and social care.


Key duties include:
To complete individual needs-based assessments, identifying levels of need and risks
To identify a support plan and review at regular intervals consistent with service standards and outcome measurements
To work in partnership with young people and their families, and the MDT to meet their support needs
Young Lives vs Cancer is open to and in support of flexible working. Your flexibility requirements and that of the role will be discussed at interview stage with you. This role is a hybrid role, working both from home and in Leeds hospital.


We would love to hear from you if you have:
A recognised social work qualification
Experience of working supporting children, teens or young adults in a social care environment
Experience of working in a multi disciplinary team
High ability to reflect within your day to day practice
Experience of case triage, assessing risk, and managing high caseloads with changeable priorities.
