JOB PURPOSE
To provide a professional, effective and proactive Fiduciary accounting service in respect of business transacted with Clients and Markets. Reconcile settlements and resolve queries in line with timeframes set within the Department.

Carry out credit control of receivable balances, allocation of receipts, settlement of payable balances and maintenance of reconciled fiduciary accounts.

Ensure all service standards are met, Corporate compliance standards are adhered to and performance objectives met in accordance with client and business needs.

**It's a busy and varied role, with a broad range of responsibilities, but the fundamentals include: - Ensure incoming work is handled effectively and promptly in accordance with predetermined departmental deadlines. Follow up and resolve outstanding issues.

  • Manage and prioritise workload within own portfolio to meet deadlines and targets. Seek guidance from senior colleagues as required.
  • Communicate with clients, markets and internal colleagues to obtain prompt collection of receivable balances or gain agreement to the settlement of payable balances. Need to adopt a flexible approach to ensure that industry and department objectives are met.
  • Undertake research and investigation to reconcile accounts and achieve clearance of outstanding balances.
  • Assist with reviews of fiduciary records by providing accurate information on own accounts. Undertake follow up work as required or directed by line manager.
  • Maintain filing and records in accordance with departmental procedures and best practices.
  • Understand and contribute to the achievement of the department's Service Standards and adhere to the relevant Business Controls.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external key contacts and, where appropriate, participate in meetings.
  • Participate in outsourced activity at the office of the customer, where reasonable.
  • Support, assist and give guidance to other colleagues, if required. Support team by maintaining colleagues' workloads in their absence.
  • Participate in team meetings and activities to share ideas, knowledge and experience. Maximise opportunities to increase own understanding and improve the services provided on accounts.
  • Develop and maintain specific industry sector skills required to enhance service and support customer relationships.
  • Take responsibility for development of own personal skills and competencies in line with any agreed development plan.
  • Support department activities to comply with FCA and other industry regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to the DISSL E&O and Compliance standards; the Safety, Health and Environment policy; and departmental procedures, guidelines and business controls.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned and achieve own goals and objectives.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES

  • Proven knowledge of insurance and reinsurance concepts relevant to fiduciary accounting.
  • Strong ability to work in a team.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Proven credit control skills
  • Excellent Technology skills.
  • Good verbal and written skills for communication with clients, markets and DISSL colleagues at various levels.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Proven ability to find creative solutions to problems, as they arise.

Educational / Experience
5 GCSEs grades A to C, including Maths and English (or equivalent).

Working towards ACII or other insurance/reinsurance qualification desirable.
