The Management School has an exciting opportunity for a proven thought leader and researcher with a distinguished publication record at a world-leading level to join us as Chair in Supply Chain Management.

You should have significant experience in winning external research funding, an ambition to grow a critical mass of funding and resources and to provide intellectual direction for research appropriate to the position.

You will be able to demonstrate skills in the leadership and the mentoring of academic staff in research, publication and income generation activities, impact and knowledge exchange.


As a senior member of staff, it is expected that you will contribute to academic leadership by undertaking the role of Head of the Operations Management and Decision Sciences (OMDS) Research Centre for a period of three years from the appointment, working collaboratively with the Head of Subject Group and Research Development Director.

The School has six Subject Groups and this opportunity is located in the Management School's Operations Management and Decision Sciences (OMDS) Subject Group which:

  • Delivers a range of postgraduate and undergraduate programmes and modules, mainly relating to Operations, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Operational Research, Decision Sciences, Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainable Management, Research Methods, Business Statistics, Information Systems Development, and on the Faculty Doctoral Programme;
  • Is home to a highly active research centre, which is articulated into three themes: Logistics and Supply Chain Management; Sustainable Production and Consumption; Information Management and Decision Sciences.
