Description

Rowing has a rich history at St George's College, with both boys' and girls' programmes going from strength to strength.

We compete on the highest stages, including the Schools' Head of the River, National Schools' Regatta, Henley Royal Regatta and Women's Henley.

As well as this, we have students aiming for junior international representation.

It is an incredibly exciting time to join, with our world class Activity Centre offering a strength & conditioning Gym including 18 ergs and a Boat Club on the River Thames (scheduled for redevelopment in 2023).

Rowing is a main sport for boys and girls from Third Year onwards.

The Head of Rowing will be required to plan and coach at all levels during the timetabled games sessions for each year group, as well as at the pre and post school training sessions.

There is a comprehensive race list throughout the year, including a number of internal regattas and events.

Specific duties to include:

  • Being responsible for the day to day management of rowing; practices, regattas, tours, staffing, catering, hosting, transport etc.
  • Managing the Boat House and its equipment and vehicles, in conjunction with the Boatperson.
  • Keeping abreast of legislative changes and managing the implementation of all aspects of health and safety issues surrounding rowing, including ROWSAFE guidance.
  • Working closely with all rowing staff to develop their coaching knowledge and awareness of the pupils' needs, regardless of ability.
  • Promoting rowing through; writing school reports, press releases, Georgian and Newsletter reports and updating the school's sport website (SOCS).
  • Working with feeder schools, St George's Junior School, external clubs and agencies such as British Rowing, Elmbridge Council and the Environment Agency.
  • Acting as a responsible public figure and to feel at ease with communicating with parents both on a formal and informal setting. This includes working with the Boat Club Committee; a group of volunteers from the parental body.
Single staff accommodation may be available on-site.
