Serco is contracted to provide Total Facilities Management to the Defence Academy of the UK (DA).

This prestigious establishment is responsible for post-graduate education and most of the command, staff, leadership, Defence management, acquisition, and technology training for members of the UK Armed Forces and MOD Civil Servants.

Serco supports the DA as the MOD's primary link with UK universities and international military educational institutions.
Serco have an exciting new role as a SSRC Receptionist. You will provide an efficient reception service, facilitating entry of students, staff and visitors into the Defence Academy.


Main Accountabilities:


Provide reception service promptly to the general public, staff, service personnel and visitors to the Defence Academy; being able to articulate the services offered, the courses being run and where they are located.

Respond efficiently and effectively to requests of a wide-ranging nature from visitors, staff and students.
Maintain a record of visitor details.
Issue the appropriate passes to individuals having ascertained their bona fides.

Liaise with the Ministry of Defence Guard Service (MGS) on a daily basis ensuring a complete handover / takeover is carried out at the start and finish of each day's duties.

Book visitors into the Defence Academy and assist new arrivals with information.
Maintain a key register and booking out system for all Defence Academy buildings excluding the JSCSC


What you'll need to do the role:
Ability to communicate at all levels.
Methodical, organised and able to work under pressure.
Adaptable, perseverant and discreet.
Problem solving skills.
Ability to work on own or as part of a team.


The Defence Academy sits within a beautiful and secure site which hosts 2 lakes and is surrounded by acres of scenic woodland.

The Academy trains the future commanders and staff officers of all three UK Armed Services and those from many countries around the world.
