Do you want to work with adult learners to support them to move forwards with life and career aspirations?


The City of York Council, York Learning Team are looking for a number of appropriately qualified, experienced, and motivated tutors to work in both our maths, visual arts and languages curriculum.


We are wanting a tutor to who can teach maths within a small, creative team to engage learners and help deliver the maths curriculum (Entry Level to Level 2) to adults aged 19+.

An ability to also teach English would be desirable. You will need to be available for at least one evening per week.

We are looking for tutors to teach Painting and Drawing, Heritage and Eco-based crafts. We are also looking for a tutor to teach Modern Foreign Languages, particularly French.


We are currently delivering the Multiply programme to help adults improve their numeracy skills to help with household finances, supporting their children's homework and improve skills for work.


We are looking for tutors to support numeracy through our Multiply offer in a creative way such as: Art, Design, Crafts, Cookery, Gardening, Green Skills.


All roles are likely to be mainly face to face sessions in community venues with the possibility of teaching online.


You should be able to demonstrate awareness of both the rewards and the specific challenges of working with adult learners.

Excellent IT skills are required and have a good understanding of online platforms including Zoom and Google Classroom.

Due to the variety of location of our classes, own transport is desired.

Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process.

Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
