Description
The Role

  • We are looking for a highly skilled, ambitious and proactive individual to join the FCA's ESG Division._

Led by Sacha Sadan, the FCA's first ESG Director, who reports to the CEO, the ESG Division is responsible for developing and coordinating delivery of the FCA's strategy and commitments in the ESG space.

The ESG Division comprises a group of committed, highly collaborative individuals, who are passionate about driving positive change.

The financial sector has an important role to play in helping the economy adapt to a more sustainable long-term future.

There has been a strong focus on climate change and the role of finance in supporting the transition to a net zero economy.

The FCA is required to 'have regard' to "the government's ambitions for the provision of sustainable finance and the supply of long-term investment to support UK economic growth, including the supply of finance for infrastructure projects".

Companies and consumers are increasingly looking beyond climate change too. They are considering wider environmental issues, such as nature and biodiversity, as well as social and governance issues.

ESG matters are also high on the regulatory agenda.

If the financial sector is going to help support the transition to a more sustainable future, market participants and financial services firms need high quality information, a well-functioning ecosystem and clear standards.

And consumers need to be able to rely on firms to take ESG seriously, avoid 'greenwashing' and deliver on their ESG promises.

The FCA aims to deliver these outcomes.

About the Market Intelligence & Engagement Team
